OVERVIEW
10-time Emmy Award winning composer Bruce Broughton will compose a new work of 8-10 minutes for euphonium solo and wind band. The work will feature great audience appeal, an accompaniment appropriate to a college level ensemble, and a soloist part playable by a very fine graduate student. Consortium Fee: $1,000 (due by August 2014). Premiere Period: May 2014-June 2015.
ABOUT BRUCE BROUGHTON
One of the most versatile composers working today, Bruce Broughton writes in every medium, from theatrical releases and TV feature films to the concert stage for symphonic band and orchestra. His first major film score, Silverado, brought him an Oscar nomination along with his next project,Young Sherlock Holmes, that earned a Grammy nomination. Major motion picture credits include Lost in Space; Tombstone; Miracle on 34th Street; Carried Away; Baby's Day Out; Harry and The Hendersons; Honey, I Blew Up The Kid; the Disney animated features, The Rescuers Down Under and Bambi II, and the two Homeward Bound adventures. Some of his works for symphonic band include:Harlequin, American Hero, Celebration, Concerto for Piccolo and Wind Ensemble, Excursions for Trumpet and Band, Concerto for Tuba, Silverado, Turbulence, New Era, and many works for soloist and piano. PREMIERE AND MUSIC DELIVERY TIMELINE
Score and parts will be delivered by April 1, 2014 via PDF. A large format bound score is available if requested at no additional cost. The Consortium World Premiere period will be from May 1, 2014 until July 31, 2015.
