Censhu - Far Beyond the Milky Way

From the composer:

Commissioned by Ryuji Ushigami, this second fantasia for euphonium and piano was written in February 1994 and premiered on his second recital at Tokorozawa, Saitama in April of the year.

In contrast with the first fantasia "As Wonderful Things Drift By" (1990), which was colored by lonely grief, in this composition I determined to express a prospective dream far beyond our earth; how there might be full of chaos.

This piece is written in an analogous sonata form, that is, the development section is replaced with new episodes led from the thematic materials in the previous section. A mysterious starting and a bright ending tell vast expectation to our outer space.
