Daughtrey - Bounce

Commisioned by the West Forsyth High School Band (Jim Kirkpatrick & Phil Spencer, directors) and a consortium of North Carolina high school band programs, Bounce was originally written to feature the talents of NYC jazz trumpeter (and NC native) Mike Sailors. The original version for trumpet and wind ensemble received its world premier at the NC Music Educator's In-Service Converence in Winston-Salem in November 2014. Infused with the sounds of Bernstein, Gershwin, and a brief nod to Dizzy Gillespie. Bounce features the euphonium as both a classical and a jazz instrument, offerinc moments of blazing virtuosity and expressive lyricism.
