“Welcome to the future” was born as a special request from Dr. Deanna Swoboda
for the Inaugural Concert of the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference ITEC 2023, held on the campus of the School of Music, Dance and Theater of the Arizona State University, in which Dr. Swoboda is Associate Professor of Euphonium, Tuba and Entrepreneurship, as well as Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in Music.
The Congress commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association ITEA, thus becoming a very special event for the entire world community of Euphoniums and Tubas.
The fact that the Congress is held at the Arizona State University is very significant for the author, since he completed his advanced studies in the Tuba specialty there in 1995/96 with the prestigious professor Samuel Pilafian.
The piece begins with a call, in the style of a fanfare, which leads us to the festive and energetic Allegro that captures the passion that tubists and euphonium players have for their instruments.
The central section is a slow melody, in homage to all those companions who have left us, with whom we have shared so much and from whom we have learned so much, so that they are always present in our memory.
The final part is a march that looks to the future with optimism, wishing that our instruments continue to grow as they have done so far; with honesty, work, friendship, kindness, affection, dedication and a lot of passion.

“Welcome to the future” nace como una petición especial de la Dr. Deanna Swoboda para el Concierto Inaugural de la International Tuba and Euphonium Conference ITEC 2023, celebrada en el campus de la Escuela de Música, Danza y Teatro de la Universidad Estatal de Arizona, en la que la Dr. Swoboda es Profesora Asociada de Euphonium, Tuba y Enprendimiento, además de Subdirectora de Estudios de Postgrado en Música.
El Congreso, conmemora el 50 aniversario de la fundación de la International Tuba and
Euphonium Association ITEA, convirtiéndose así, en un acontecimiento muy especial para toda la comunidad mundial de Bombardinos y Tubas.
El hecho de que el Congreso se celebre en la Universidad Estatal de Arizona es muy
significativo para el autor, pues realizó allí sus estudios de perfeccionamiento en la especialidad de Tuba en 1995/96 con el prestigioso profesor Samuel Pilafian.
La pieza se inicia con una llamada, al estilo fanfarria, que nos conduce al Allegro festivo y enérgico que plasma la pasión que los tubistas y bombardinistas tienen por sus instrumentos.
La sección central es una melodía lenta, en homenaje a todos aquellos compañeros que nos han dejado, con los que tanto hemos compartido y de los que tanto hemos aprendido, para que estén siempre presentes en nuestra memoria.
La parte final es una marcha que mira hacia el futuro con optimismo, deseando que nuestros instrumentos sigan creciendo como lo han hecho hasta ahora; con honestidad, trabajo, amistad, bondad, cariño, entrega y mucha pasión.
