Sixteen years after releasing my first solo CD «Elégie», I am delighted to present my new solo album «Madrigal». A lot has happened in my life and career as a musician since «Elégie». I was given the chance to perform numerous solo concerts throughout the world, meeting so many wonderful people – fellow musicians, audiences, students – with all of whom I share a deep passion for music. I feel very privileged to live my life as a musician!
My admiration for the great Romantic composers has not changed throughout these years and «Madrigal» is another statement of it. The name «Madrigal» is assumed to be derived from the Latin words cantus matricalis meaning a song in the mother tongue. I found this to be quite fitting, as I feel that perhaps my musical “mother tongue” speaks the language of Romantic expression.
I want to express my sincere thanks to Ivet Frontela, who has been such an inspiration for this recording project.
