Collection: Patrick Geren Euphonium Studio
Patrick Geren is a freelance music educator, performer, and composer currently located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where he teaches private lessons and masterclasses for the Coppell and Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School Districts. Before moving to DFW he did similar freelance work across many of the districts in Austin (TX). His students consistently place in All-Region and All-State ensembles. Patrick serves as the Director and Founder of the Lone Star Mock Audition, a series of high school mock audition experiences focused on accessible opportunities to prepare for All-State auditions.
Patrick joined the Blue Devils brass staff in 2023 and has been involved in the DCI activity for over 20 years as a performer and educator, helping bring 2 DCI Championships to the 2016 Bluecoats and 2023 Blue Devils. He previously taught on the brass staff at the Bluecoats from 2016-2022, specializing in baritone, euphonium, and trombone. In addition he worked on the brass staff at the Santa Clara Vanguard (2012-2014), Blue Stars (2011), and as a brass consultant for Pacific Crest (2018).
As a member of the University of Georgia Tuba Quartet, he earned honors as first runner-up in the chamber ensemble competitions at the 2014 Music Teachers National Association in Chicago and the International Tuba Euphonium Conference held at Indiana University. His original work, “Tipping Point,” was a finalist in the 2016 U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Composition Contest and was recorded by the North Texas Euphonium Quartet on their debut album, “Machines.” He is also a performer with the Backburner Tuba and Euphonium Collective. As an advocate for new music, he has commissioned works by Ben Horne, Zoe Cutler, Kevin Day, Fernando Deddos, and Matthew Murchison.
He earned his Master’s in Performance from the University of Georgia with David Zerkel and his Bachelor’s in Music Education and Performance from Illinois State University with Dr. Andy Rummel and Dr. Mark Babbitt.
